The Namesake : P.1-10

The book begins with the scene of a pregnant Indian woman, name Ashima Ganguli, making a snack from her hometown. While she was making, she felt discomfort and called her husband Ashoke. Soon they went to the hospital. Feeling uncomfortable with the hospital made Ashima thought of her farewell moment in India with her family. Staying alone in hospital made her nervous for she never slept outside and alone. She memoried the life in hometown, before she was married, she was working toward a college degree. One day after tutoring, her mother told her to prepared herself and a men is waiting to see her. Unlike the last two man, this men had a pair of different style of shoes, and made her excited. Both Ashima and the men's fathers introduced their children. The men had been living and studied abroad for two years. Ashima was asked if she was willing to live abroad. Soon they were married, and she became from Ashima Bhaduri to Ashima Ganguli. The husband and wife moved to Cambridge and had a life of their own.
